Gum Grafting
When the gum starts to recede, it creates gaps between the teeth and the gum line. This leads to the accumulation of bacteria that can cause periodontal disease. When left untreated, it destroys the gum tissue and the bone structure of the teeth, which may ultimately result in tooth loss. Gum grafting is commonly used to restore the health of your teeth and gums.
Oral Cancer Screening
When you visit your dentist for a dental check-up, they will assess the health of your teeth and gums and also check for oral cancer. They will perform a visual exam of the mouth tissues to check for any discolouration or abnormal growths. They will also palpate the mouth tissues, the jaw, the neck, and under the chin to feel for any unusual lumps.
Dental X-Rays
While a visual exam allows your dentist to assess the exterior health of your teeth and gums, digital X-rays provide clear and accurate images of your teeth and jaws below the gumline. Digital X-rays are recommended to be taken at least once a year for a comprehensive overview of your oral health.
Teeth Extractions
While our goal is to always save your natural teeth, there may be instances where a tooth cannot be saved. A tooth extraction may be recommended in cases of severe tooth decay or when a tooth infection has penetrated the tooth roots and a root canal has failed. Impacted teeth or crowded teeth may also require a tooth extraction.
